Isn't going on vacation awesome? You make memories, visit new places, and unwind; what's not to love? That's why people get so excited about summer. That and the long, sunny days that beg you to go out. If you're still on the fence about whether to go away or not, here's your sign to do it. They say that nobody regrets traveling, and we're inclined to agree. However, you don't need to take our word for it; take the Internet's! We gathered some of the funniest travel pictures we've seen online for you to have a good laugh while planning your next trip.
Kid, That's Not a Toy
Going on vacation with your kids is a marvelous experience. Isn't it? ISN'T IT? Look, we're all grownups here; we can be honest with each other. As much as parents love their children, we bet they've wished they could go on a solo trip once in a while. After all, being with your sons or daughters will never be boring, but it can get painful. Just ask this guy.
Hey kid, that's not a toy; it's attached to a human being. We're sorry for the guy, but his grimace of pain is just too funny not to laugh at.
"No, Sir, You Need to Move the... "
There's great debate about people getting obsessed with taking selfies and not enjoying the sights. However, that's not a problem exclusive to the digital age. Besides, aren't most family photos taken while on vacation? So, what's this about criticizing individuals for wanting to immortalize their memories? We say take all the pictures you wish to but make sure they're good quality and don't have a finger covering half the frame.
In the couple's defense, they warned the person taking the picture that their finger was covering the lens. We burst into laughter when we saw them gesturing.
Jesus Is Here
At the top of the Corcovado mountain, near Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, lies the Christ the Redeemer statue. Almost two million people visit the 635 metric-ton statue every year, but not everybody is lucky enough to see it. You'd think a giant sculpture would be easy to spot, but sometimes, mist and clouds obscure it. Then, there's also the risk of people standing before it.
Should we consider this couple lucky or unlucky? Because the way the man perfectly blends in with the statue is an unbelievable coincidence. Still, we imagine they didn't appreciate being photobombed.
Swallowed by the Sand
Speaking of being lucky or unlucky. It's one thing to go see the Grand Canyon and find that it's covered in clouds; that can happen to anyone. On the other hand, if you wake up one morning during your yearly beach vacation to find that the sand has swallowed your truck... You might start investigating if someone might've put a curse on your family generations ago.
We're inclined to believe it's Photoshop because we don't understand how something like that could happen... Imagine going on vacation and having to deal with this!
Not Where You Want to Get Stuck
How many of you reading have getting trapped in an elevator as your biggest fear? It's not something we're afraid of particularly, but we won't deny that it sounds like an unpleasant experience. Nevertheless, would you rather be stuck in a hotel shower? Naked? And while you were on vacation? Yeah, that doesn't sound appealing either, but that's what happened to these people. We're sure they laugh about it now, right?
Although, judging by the guy's face, it might've been a pretty traumatic experience. Hopefully, they got liberated quickly and didn't miss much sightseeing. What do you think?
What if Yours Is at the Bottom?
Not every country functions in the same way. Some people from richer countries might find it a shock to see how things are handled in less wealthy countries. However, if it ain't broke, why fix it? Sure, a change may be necessary in some cases, but that's not always the case. Take the methods the workers in this station use to transport luggage. We're trying hard not to judge...
What if your bag is at the bottom of that giant tower or even at the top? How long do you think they'd take to give out all that luggage? So many questions...
Just Me and My Head
Going on a trip together is a milestone every committed couple needs to go through. Some come back convinced they've found the person they're meant to spend the rest of their lives with. On the contrary, others return with the certainty that they're about to break up. However, there's something to say in favor of going solo. After all, don't they say that you are your best company? Just you and your head.
Don't worry; that's not an actual severed head. This couple thought they'd be funny while on vacation and decided to pose that way. How long do you think it took to dig that deep?
A Room With a View...
What's the one quality most travelers seek when booking a hotel room? We'd say it's the A/C, but admittedly, most would answer "the view." Everyone dreams of looking out to the sea from their beds, but we'll take anything as long as it's quiet and doesn't smell like a sewer. However, if we got one with a completely see-through bathroom like this, we'd be tempted to ask for a change.
Imagine having your partner or spouse watch you poop! We'd rather go to the lobby bathroom or have everybody leave when we need to go number one or two.
It's All About Physics
Have you ever wondered why when you place a pencil inside a glass of water, it looks like it's bending in the middle? It's all physics! Water has a different refraction index than air, so the light works differently in each medium. It's the same reason why our bodies look weird and bendy when we're underwater. Speaking of which, perhaps it's a good idea to avoid being photographed in the pool.
Otherwise, you might suffer the same fate this lady did and end up looking like a small, two-legged elephant. This isn't a comment about her weight; it's genuinely how she looks.
Bringing the Patio Furniture to the Beach
Going to the beach is great, but only if it's not windy, if you have somewhere close to stay, if you have an umbrella to shelter yourself from the blistering sun, or if it's hot enough to dip into the ocean... Now that we think of it, a lot needs to go right for a day at the beach to be enjoyable. This guy knew it and tried to cover all his bases.
His brilliant solution was grabbing his hookah and all the patio furniture and bringing it along. Here's a question: do you think he lived nearby, or did he rent a truck?
The Best Vacation Companions
Meeting new people is one of the best things about going on a vacation. In fact, that's what the entire plots of Grease and High School Musical were about. Moreover, how many rom-coms are there about individuals going away and falling in love with an attractive foreigner? However, romance isn't the only thing you can find when you go away. You may also make some pretty exotic friends.
This kid managed to befriend a parrot and a monkey as though they were a real-life pirate of the Caribbean. We bet that was one of the most fun trips ever.
Age Is Just a Number
This is a PSA for all those young and childless people out there: go out and see the world! Book a ticket to Europe; go on vacation with your friends, whatever tickles your fancy. You won't be able to do it all once you settle down and start a family. At least not until your children grow up and become adults because being a grandma is like being in your thirties again.
If you need evidence, here you go. This grandma and her friends planned a vacation and decided to do all the things the youngsters did. After all, what's stopping them?
Why Motels Are Less Expensive
Finding the right accommodation can make or break a trip. That said, if you're short on funds, you'll probably have to book a room at a less expensive hotel or even stay at a motel. Sure, they don't have the best reputations, being the places outlaws always stay in movies, but if you're planning to spend the whole day at the beach, it's not that big a deal, right?
Well, maybe it is. What would you do if you got a room with this tasteful mural painted on it? Laugh your butts off, perhaps. We know we would.
Ah, Nature...
Some people really enjoy being out in nature and in contact with wildlife. Others just don't. Regardless of which type you are, it's good to keep an open mind about the whole thing. After all, the Earth has many beautiful sights that would be a shame to miss out on. Trust us, despite what this photo shows, it's not that bad to be out in nature.
Look, we're sure the bird was just excited to be in the picture, too, and wasn't swooping down to attack them. Besides, can't you see how calm the llama is?
Frozen Hair Don't Care
In colder regions, people have been going to hot springs to unwind for centuries. In many parts of Europe, it's even customary to go during winter when it's still cold. Yeah, putting on a swimsuit when the temperature is in the single digits doesn't sound so appealing, but the water is so warm that you supposedly don't feel it. Until you come out, that's when you turn into a snowperson.
In this case, the temperature must've been below freezing, so when the lady surfaced, her hair turned into snow! We wonder how she got the ice out, but regardless, that's an awesome picture.
Hold on Tight
We love the summer, but the going can get rough when temperatures start climbing. That's why many opt to head over to the nearest lake or beach because being close to water makes the heat more bearable. Besides, you get the chance to do some water sports, like rafting, canoeing, tubing... There are so many options, and all of them are fun! At least most of the time.
We don't think the people in this picture are enjoying the experience since they all seem to be getting flung out of the tube. The one holding on for dear life is hilarious!
Family Fun in the Sun
Is your family the type to have matching shirts made every time they go on vacation? Because ours isn't. We're still pretty close and enjoy traveling together, but going through the trouble of designing and ordering everything in advance is too much effort for us. Besides, you don't need to wear the same outfits for people to know you're related. You can get matching tans as these people did.
On second thought, we wouldn't recommend following their lead because those sunburns look painful. Perhaps it was their first summer getaway since none of them had excellent sunblock-spreading skills.
Street Performer or Evil Spirit?
What most people do when they visit a city they've never been to before is hitting all the main touristy spots. They also take pictures to commemorate their time there. However, some playful locals like pulling pranks on the visitors and photobombing their selfies. That's why you shouldn't be surprised if you come home and suddenly see a stranger in the background in one of your pictures unless they look like this.
That would give us a jumpscare for sure. However, maybe they invited the creepy clown to be in the photo. At least, that's what we'd like to believe.
It's Not What You Think
Traveling by plane can be stressful. There's always the fear of being late for the flight, forgetting something important at home, or even packing something you're not allowed to board with by mistake. You know, the same rational and irrational fears everybody has when they're about to go on a trip. This person managed to get on the plane with no issues, but then, they saw something that made them tremble.
With laughter, not with fear. What they thought was a creep was actually a guy with a weird habit. Seriously, why not hang him from his shirt like every regular dad?
*Cackling*
If you're under 25, you probably spend hours scrolling through TikTok. If you're between 25 and 35, you probably do the same on Instagram or YouTube. Regardless of age or social platform, everybody's searching for the same thing: something that makes them laugh. We're here to bring you those laughs, and if you haven't chuckled even once yet, you're bound to do so when you see the following picture.
Why does he look like Mr. Incredible? Those beauty mirrors that zoom in on your face already leave you looking funny enough, but he had to go and resemble a fictional character too.
Maybe They Should Rethink the Decoration
Hotels usually pay a company to design their decor. Yes, someone chose that dull carpet and those non-descript paintings on purpose. Still, as long as they're not an eyesore, then it's a job well done, we guess. Except in this case, it wasn't. Someone messed up royally because we can't imagine guests being comfortable staying in a room with a floor that looks like someone got brutally stabbed.
Who would even come up with a design like that? Those don't look like the tasteful brush strokes they were meant to be. They're more like bloodstains someone tried to wipe away.
Life's Always Better When Jeff Goldblum's There
Did you know that many hotel chains let you put in special requests in case you want a little extra something in your room? We recommend you check because they may charge for it. However, if you want the towels arranged in a certain way or a picture of Jeff Goldblum to be biting by your bedside table, they'll probably agree to the request. At least they did for this person.
Why a picture of Jeff Goldblum, you may ask? Well, why not? He's a handsome man. Besides, he's funny and has a great, soothing voice. What's not to love about him?
Ouch, That Must've Hurt
Don't you feel like being a tourist is sometimes like playing a video game? You have to run around places you don't know, talking to the locals —or NPCs— and trying to fulfill quests. For example, in Rome, you must visit the Colosseum, eat some gelato, and all the basics. If you visit Egypt, you go see the pyramids and maybe take a picture of a camel.
However, this person unlocked a sidequest that nobody knew existed: getting bitten by a camel. We thought spitting llamas were the only camelids you had to be careful around.
"The Hangover" in Real Life
Going on a vacation isn't always about relaxing and taking things slow. Sometimes unwinding means hitting every bar along the coast. Or, if you're somewhere like Las Vegas, spending the entire night going from club to club. What can we say; some people love letting loose and going wild. Didn't you watch The Hangover? Yeah, we thought it was fiction too, but some individuals do those things.
We don't think going overboard is healthy, but there's no denying it can leave you with some unique memories. Not many people can say that they woke up next to two dogs in sunglasses.
You Live and You Learn
Remember those childhood vacations with your family? We're sure those are overall happy memories, especially when seen in retrospect. In fact, we bet everyone still talks about them whenever they get together for the holidays. Nevertheless, you probably picked up a few traumas along with those heartfelt moments. You know, like that time you went canoeing at the rapids and fell off the boat and almost drowned.
Admittedly, we can't know how this situation ended, but it sure left them with a funny picture. If this was taken before digital cameras were popular, it must've been hilarious to see.
Men Are From Mars and Women Are From Venus
People love to talk about the differences between men and women. However, we think they're much more alike than most think, except when it comes to putting a vacation together. Look, we're not trying to disparage men, but we all have to admit that ladies are usually better at planning stuff than they are. They also don't try to take pictures making crude poses against buildings.
Still, we're not judging. As long as it's fun to you and it's not illegal or disrespectful, then knock yourself off. Either way, you'll be making memories you'll never forget.
Expect the Unexpected
It's a lot of pressure to plan a trip. You can fly all the way to Japan to see Mt. Fuji, but if it's cloudy, you won't see a thing, and that's a risk you have to take. Some attractions, like buildings, are safer, but things can still go wrong. Take the Big Ben, for example. A giant clock tower won't go anywhere, but that doesn't mean you'll get to see it.
See what we mean? On the left is the view they expected, and on the right is the one they actually saw or, more accurately, what they didn't see.
What Happens in Vegas... You Know the Drill
Imagine getting off a plane and seeing people lying around the airport, unmoving, seemingly passed out. Nobody would blame you if you thought you'd jumped straight into a zombie apocalypse movie, but before panicking, you should check what city you've arrived at. If it's Las Vegas or somewhere else where people go exclusively to party, you have nothing to worry about. It's just business as usual around those parts.
If you've been over there and haven't boarded the plane back with a pounding headache, then we salute you. Only people with solid self-control manage to fight against sin city's allure.
That's a Core Memory There
Have you noticed that people take more pictures when they're on vacation? It's not just because of the apparent reason of having more free time to spend, but also because the backgrounds are more exciting. If you're going somewhere, why not show it off? It's the perfect opportunity to snap your next profile picture. Moreover, if you go with friends, you'll want to document all those special moments. The awkward ones too.
These friends will laugh about one of them faceplanting on that plastic flamingo floaty for the rest of their lives. That's what core memories are made of people: fun moments.
Panoramic Fail
Before you scroll down to see the following picture, we must warn you: it may warp your sense of reality. We say that because sometimes, seeing something familiar in a very unfamiliar way can mess with our brains. However, there's nothing to worry about. The laws of physics are still in place, and gravity still works how it's supposed to. What isn't working is the camera's panoramic feature.
Someone tried to use it to take a picture of the Eiffel Tower in its full glory but didn't keep the phone straight, so it looks wonky. Relax; the reality isn't warping.
That's a Great Picture of a Thumb
Not everybody has good photography skills, and that's OK. However, asking a stranger to take a picture of you can be frustrating because you don't know if it'll be halfway decent. That's why selfies have become so popular. Sure, you'll look bloated and horrible from that awkward angle, but at least your face will be shown clearly. Trusting a random guy you just met could lead to this tragedy.
Getting a picture focused on a person's thumb instead of one of you with the scenery. Hopefully, they took more photographs than this because the only clear part is their legs.
Safety Does Not Come First Here
Every building needs to have a clearly signaled emergency exit. That's not something we came up with but an actual law many countries have. And yes, hotels need to follow that rule too. However, some owners have begun cutting costs and going against regulations. That's why properly researching any accommodations you book is more important than ever. You don't want to run into surprises like these.
That's a lawsuit waiting to happen. We'd like to believe that the actual emergency exit was somewhere out of frame, but having two extra signs that lead nowhere can't be safe.
How to Have the Best Honeymoon
If there's one trip you're allowed to pull all the stops for, it's your honeymoon. It's the chance to fulfill all without the responsibilities —both economic and otherwise— that a family brings. Imagine having a dual income to spend on a vacation and nothing but time. That's literally what dreams are made of. However, even if you book the most expensive hotel, things may not go as expected.
Chill, we're not talking about divorce. We're only referring to how you should bring your own robes unless you want to end up looking ridiculous like these two.
A Hairy Situation
We talked about the odd decor choices hotels sometimes make. At times, we find ourselves staring at the Rorshach-like paintings most chains put up in the lobby. However, occasionally, you come across an "art piece" so hideous that you begin to rethink if beauty standards even exist in the first place. What could possibly make us question that? Take a look at this print someone found in a hotel restaurant.
It looks like a piece of glass someone rubbed hair all over. Nothing could amuse our bouches less than that hanging on the wall. Who thought that would be a good idea?
Great Photography Skills...
Raise your hand if you dream of going to Hawaii. Every picture we see convinces us that the islands are a true paradise on Earth. One day, we'll make it over there to see its wonders, but when it happens, we hope nothing like this happens to us. We'd love to see the dreamy rainbow Eucalyptus trees, which only grow in certain places, and someone snapping this crappy picture.
We bet you only saw the tiny human head at the bottom after staring for a while. It's not like they even framed the trees correctly since they're also cut off awkwardly.
There's No Age Limit to Having Fun
Anyone who says grownups can't have fun is wrong. There's no age where you must stop being goofy and playful. There's also no age cap for parents to take their kids to amusement or water parks. You can be thirty and still go on a merry-go-round. Are you still skeptical about it? Take a look at this family's photos. Don't they look like the happiest people on the planet?
We wish our dad had taken us to the waterpark in our twenties. If you're reading this and are a parent to grown-up children, why not consider planning a vacation like this?
Oops, His Bad
It'll probably sound boring to many, but visiting ancient ruins can be a blast. Isn't learning how people lived hundreds or thousands of years ago exciting? Whether they're Greek, Roman, Egyptian, or Mayan, all of them are fascinating to see. However, most individuals only get one chance to visit them, so they have to make it count, but sometimes the universe gets in the way and is impossible to avoid.
Other times, it's a man with a broom that gets in the way and ruins your family portrait. Come on; it's not that hard to tell when someone is posing for a photograph.
They Advertised a Pool
Sometimes, Airbnb or hotel listings don't tell you the complete truth. We once booked a room for two that was supposed to have two different beds but turned out to have only one. Not awkward at all, right? We bet you have a similar story in your repertoire. Still, there are people out there who got scammed way worse than we were, like these people who thought their hotel would have a pool.
It wasn't technically a lie. However, they failed to mention that the big one they advertised was out of commission, and they'd replaced it with a tiny blow-up one.
Bad Luck or Good?
Pigeons have often been called "the rats of the sky," and as city-dwellers, we're inclined to agree. They're always there, no matter where you go, stalking you for food or flying into your face whenever you cross a square or park. Most of the time, they're harmless, but sometimes it feels like they're out to get you. This guy probably thought they were messing with him on purpose after seeing this pic.
Seriously, what are the odds? It takes only a fraction of a second to take a picture nowadays, and this bird just had to fly across the lens at that exact moment.
Tall People Problems
Did you know that the Dutch are the tallest people on Earth? In the Netherlands, the average height is 5 feet 7.96 inches, and this takes into account that it's not a very large country. That means if a Dutch person goes to Japan, for example, where people are much shorter, they'll probably have to duck everywhere they go. Or kneel to pee, as this poor fellow is doing.
That's something most people don't take into account when planning trips abroad. Now, if you're taller than average, you'll know to make sure to book accommodations that can, well, accommodate you.
