It seems that our human race will go to any lengths to get that ultimate shot of ourselves, no matter the risk it might entail. Besides taking risks for that ‘OMG’ photo, there is an online trend on social media platforms where influencers take ‘danger selfies’ to accumulate more like
Those Perfect Sidewalk Selfie Moments
The sun might be at the perfect height, and the natural light is just waiting for you to capture that beautiful natural shot of yourself with the road behind you as a backdrop. It might not seem to have any risk, like, come on. For goodness sake, it is just me sitting on the sidewalk's edge!
OK, fine, if you consider a truck coming around the corner (too close for comfort), they won’t be able to see me from their height - at all!
Look, Mom, No Hands, Look, Son, No Phone!
Roadtrips always seems like a great time to take fun photos, no matter what. Of course, I want to take photos that will have my family and friends talking around the dinner table. Hanging out of the car window is a fun photo trend. Let me hang out the front window with my smartphone ready for action and my child half-body out the back window.
Never mind if this safari ends with a branch smack or an angry wild animal chase.
Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, Zip-A-Dee-Ay. Oh My, a New Photo Day
Nature puts life into photos with its luscious green backdrop and the sun piercing the trees. Why would I not choose to hang around and show off my inspiring outdoor personality while including an adventurous twist to my sparkling personality? Ok, fine, this might not look as high from this angle, but the danger lurks somewhere, like coming to a sudden halt and dropping the camera.
But on a serious note, not paying attention to the surroundings could end up being disastrous instead of influential.
Having Friends in High Places, Right?
Nothing is more fun than doing crazy things with my best friend, like getting on a bridge railing and taking this great snapshot. Come now, let us not get caught up in the logistics of parking the car somewhere safe or running over a busy road and then climbing on the bridge's rail. Why would it be a priority?
If I can take a creative selfie with cars traveling underneath the bridge while showing our million-dollar smiles up at my camera? It just doesn’t seem like that big of a deal.
Let Us Have the Pool Party Underwater!
Nothing like fun in the sun with my friends, and what better way to enjoy it than a pool party? I am sure there are plenty of poolside pictures to be taken, but why stay dry on land when we can put on our shades and jump in the pool with my go-pro in hand?
The only challenge will be to strike the perfect smiling pose without breathing water up our nose or swallowing some while showing off our pearly whites.
We Are Taking the Edge off Our Trip.
Keeping a safe distance from the edge might not get in the full view, but standing close to it fills the scenery perfectly. I can not imagine you would do so half-heartedly if you had gotten this far to take the picture. The only trick is to be close enough to the edge to get it all in the shot but far enough not to slip and fall because that might just be the death of us!
And that is the last thing on my mind when taking incredible photos.
I Was Sitting at the Water’s Edge.
When the sun’s reflection hits the water, you get that natural sparkle that will enhance your photo. So sitting on the water’s edge and taking a photo may look simple enough for adventurous souls. But if you do it from a railing, you could lose your footing and slip or be too near the edge and slip and fall.
A busy peer could end up with a little bump and lose footing, sending you over the edge. Then it is time to float or swim!
No Need to Go off the Rails!
The hustle and bustle of a train station, some happy to come home, others sad they are leaving. What makes the train tracks seem to be the idyllic photo that has to be captured when it is there. Fine, it might not be that exciting for risk-takers, but there could be the thought of danger for some with the clickety-clack sound of an oncoming train while taking that off-the-track photo to impress followers.
Don’t get stuck with your shoe laces caught on some rusted track screws leaving you derailed!
Now That Is a Great Hiking Shot.
I know that showing off your hiking adventures is a must for one and all. And what would be more magnificent than taking the ‘edge’ off it? Well, in my opinion, you might not want to do it with heavy baggage. Who knows, you might not make that great shot and end up sliding down the slope with your baggage.
Maybe check out the ground space to avoid any loose stones that could influence your balance and your fun hiking trip.
I Am on Top of the World!
Why take a photo sitting on the bridge’s railing if you can instead climb to the top of the bridge? Standing on the barriers and taking a selfie with the cars driving right underneath you could be a thrill for most. But would you want to risk the possibility of plummeting down and landing on a windscreen or, worse, on the road and being run over?
I am not entirely sure if that is the way I would like to go for taking a selfie, to be honest.
Let’s Go on an Outdoor Adventure.
Most risky photos happen outdoors, making sense as there is so much more to hang from, climb up on, or walk over. But would you walk over anything to get that adventure snapshot to share on your social pages? Although most of these handmade crossings in the outback could be safer than some machine-built ones, we still might double-check stability before we strike a pose on them.
You never know if you could end up like a fish in the water swimming down the river.
Walking on Sunshine (why Not)...
If you want to take risks, why on earth do it alone? We all have one or more friends that would jump at any chance to do something disturbingly fun with us. And what better way to do it than climb up something you are not supposed to and strike a modern version of ‘walking like an Egyptian pose.
Whatever you do, just don’t tip and fall over as Humpty Dumpty did. We all know how that ended for him.
You Are Never Too Old for Photos.
And here I thought that only younger folks took the dicey photos. Oh no, not so at all it seems there is no age to having a daring personality after all. So don’t get strapped into a boring life; pull on that jumper suit, pack your selfie stick and grab a lift on the next charter plane. However, if you are afraid of heights, this might be one of the most terrifying selfies you will ever take.
But who cares? It is all about the final shot, right?
Just You and I on the Rooftop
The perfect view from the rooftop on the ledge with our feet on the trellis makes a romantic picture for two. It is human nature to want to show our love for each other to the world and shout it off the rooftops. But some unpredictable mini photoshoots with the one you love might leave you falling harder for each other than you hoped or planned for, so hold on tight.
However, you could just enjoy a sunset beach walk and capture the setting sun.
And Just Who Might You Be?
What could be more venturesome than having an underwater randevu with a sea creature you have never encountered? Well, many will be impressed with your superb photo opportunity. In contrast, I wonder if this is a safe, not threatening creature or if it might just wait for the photo opportunity to pass to get what it wants (whatever that might or might not be)!
Nevertheless, it seems like a harmless fish species just passing by, minding its own business.
The Perfect Sunset Snapshot View
Many sights feature the perfect sunset viewpoints to capture nature at its most beautiful sight. No wonder we want to be part of that gorgeous setting. But to capture the essence of that splendour, we need the perfect spot to stand for that attention-grabbing picture. A thought comes to mind that even though you are on a platform looking over the landscapes…
Would you be happy with this simple shot, or would you want one more daring later?
Hanging Out Together Is More Fun.
Hanging out with friends is the best way to have fun. Doing venturous activities seem like the right thing to do when you get together, or maybe not as adventurous as some! What are you prepared to do for the ultimate friend photo opportunity? I think these two took hanging out together to the next level.
I wonder who is steering and where they are keeping the selfie stick once they are done taking incredible photos because, let’s be honest, I don’t see any backpacks hanging out with them.
Caught Between Two Worlds
The world is filled with wonders and finding some of them through travel experiences makes for the best photos. It is all about ensuring you stand in the right spot and capture the main attraction of the view you want to share. Miscommunication might cause you to miss the marvellous view or be a balancing act for you and your amateur photographer.
I would consider shoes with grip and maybe a firm hold before you take the final shot.
A Rocky (climb) Start to the Day.
Many outdoor enthusiasts love to share their photos, and I can see why! What an inspiration to some of us couch potatoes just scrolling through social media to find a glimpse of the exciting, adventurous folks out there. Well, if you aren’t like me, then good for you, but I will honestly admit my flaws here; however, I won’t do it out of the fear of ending up at the bottom like some of those Cliffhanger movies.
One misplaced hold or not enough hand powder, and you are left hanging on a ‘thread’ (metaphorically, of course).
Under the Sea Darling, It's Better
I bet you were singing that with me now… But in all honesty, I am not always sure why people are brave enough to just take pictures of sea creatures (no matter how innocent they look) without the fear of being attacked. OK, I understand that this sea turtle looks adorable, but there have been incidents of them biting, and apparently, it was not a scratch.
When you think about it, getting bitten means blood, which attacks sharks - a point made I think!
How High Do You Want to Go?
Hights tend to create the best setting for any photo, whether hiking, romantic or just taking in the scenery. It just feels so surreal, doesn’t it? Here the quote ‘life is too short’ comes to mind. Whether this is a risky choice of scenery or a cautiously planned decision, it is the perfect way to take a sunrise or sunset photo.
Taking a partner in crime to help you with that gorgeous snapshot makes it worthwhile, and the safer choice should anything go wrong while you live on the edge.
Those Perfect Couple Photo Moments
The sun might be at the perfect height, and the natural light is just waiting for you to capture that beautiful natural shot with the trees and river beneath you. It might not seem scary to the two of you, but come on. For goodness sake, it is not like your just laying down on a grass patch with the cool wind in your hair!
I am just wondering if that is a bridge they are lying on where is the railing and what if your girl shuffles into a more comfortable position will you still be next to her?
On the Flip Side of Life…
Many are fit and able to do dangerous things and have nothing to worry about, but then you get a few that think they can and end up in the emergency room. There is nothing more amazing than having an impressive profile picture, but what if your photographer doesn’t get that perfect shot the first time?
How many times do you need to flip for it unless they are seriously lucky or brilliant photographers? It is not an easy task.
I Would Cross Mountains for You.
Oh, how many times have we told someone I would cross mountains for you or I would ride a bull for you? But have you ever thought you would seriously do it? I am not sure if this is a rational thought-through plan if you haven’t done it before or if you are an acrobat.
If your calculation is not well measured, you might find yourself 6-feet underground before your picture is captured, and you could add your tagline to it.
It Is All About Chasing the Sun.
The fun about outdoor photos is that you can be creative and do it sitting, standing or running. On the other hand, the risk-takers take it in their stride on any terrain and do so daringly—no fear of missing a beat or step, for that matter. It is essential not to trip and fall after all.
You just have to ensure that your photographer is up for the task and doesn’t leave you chasing the sun and not capturing the moments.
Up, up and Away I Go.
Water activities put a big smile on anyone's face as long as you get a snapshot of the process. It could get a tad complicated when you need to hold on for dear life while you have your phone attached to a selfie stick and stabilizing it as you reach new heights. I don’t know about you, but the effort sounds exhausting, and I must remember to smile through it all.
Not sure this would be worth the risk of me hanging on for dear life or my phone not ending up in the water.
Just Another Day at Work…
Imagine this is your office view. You don’t even have to follow any trends to take risky photos. Just make sure your life insurance is up to date, I guess. But I would instead focus on getting my work done and getting down from there. Why hang around longer than you need to unless you love your job and you enjoy taking daring photos to impress your friends that have boring jobs?
Well, you certainly are in the right place, or should I say profession.
Playing Ball With an Alligator…
Would you?! Well, I’ll be damned because this is the last thing that will ever come to mind when I see these magnificent predators. And that is asking someone to take photos while entertaining an alligator. Come on. You cannot think this is just amazing, and you want to go out there and do the same thing.
Why on earth would this seem like the best idea, or even doing it barefoot and in shorts? Come on now!
It’s Just You and I Against the World…
The safer option is probably facing this way, but you would think they want the view of the landscape; if you have another photographer on standby to capture your gorgeous photo while you are having a romantic moment, why not! Should anything not work out, you at least have back too because, let’s face it, this is not the safest couple shoot option in the world now.
I am sure sitting down would have been the wiser choice, but each to their own.
Seeing the World From a Different Angle.
For some of us, this is insane. For others, this is sanity. Who are we to judge? I struggle with the idea of what the photographer is hanging onto to get this brave snapshot because he needs to be close enough to capture this moment. I am not sure if I would be confident enough to sign up for this gig.,
It’s scary knowing it’s just us, the rocks, and a few ropes with clips (okay secure rock climbing clips), but all the same does not make sense for me right now!
Would You Do This on Purpose?
The view from here doesn’t make me believe that this man is a construction worker or a builder, but he does seem determined to get a great snapshot from the top of whatever he might be balancing his life on. I am just wondering if he is interested in the buildings at the bottom or if he is finding the ruins more interesting for an art project.
Whatever the reason behind this photo, I am happy that it is not me taking it.
Did You Get It? I Can’t Hold on Any Longer!
That would be me screaming it at the top of my lungs if I was ever in this position, but then again, I would never put myself there. And where exactly is the photographer when capturing this shot? It seems like a very compromising position to be in, and what will happen when he lets go?
I am also wondering if they made it out ok and what will their next photo be to top this one, and would they be able to?
Salt or Ice? I Will Have to Look Twice.
It doesn't matter which it is, as both can’t be safe to hop around on. If it was ice, there might have been a few do-overs to get the right photo because you and the photographer might have had some footing issues and maybe more slippery slide fun.
And hoping around on a salt pan is no safer as you would end up skidding all over the place with ‘salt’ burns on your arms, and I see no fun in that whatsoever.
Going With the Speed of Light.
Well, the photo makes it look that fast, but I doubt it is the speed of light. I must admit I don’t want to miss a turn or hit a small stone on the way down like this. They have captured the perfect moment, but I can’t imagine the pain you will be in if you miss a beat, but at least safety first.
I suppose she wears her helmet and gloves, but maybe a leather suit would have been safer!
Yes, Because Waiting Is Better.
Oh, I think not. What will you be waiting for in the photo from the right angle? And I am confused about why one hand is behind his head and what is the other one holding. Who is taking this photo? Someone floating with him in the air from the plane he jumped out of in this photo doesn’t make any sense.
It makes you wonder if it is an actual photo and if someone got creative and just wanted to impress a few people, I mean, what is the story behind it?
No, Don’t Worry, I Won’t Bite!
Come on, people, you can not seriously tell me this is one of your best photo ideas. What was going through your mind? Let's see where this goes. I don’t care how trained someone tells me this predator is. There will be no way I am sticking my hand in there to prove a point to anyone in this entire world.
Life is short, and you should go out there and step out of your comfort zone from time to time, but putting your life at risk (or any body parts) is not the way to go. But that is just my thoughts.
